Hello friends,

Hope everyone survived the extreme cold weather in Midwest last week. Life had come to a halt and everything was disrupted. I could not post my blog which I generally do on Mondays, as schools were closed and many areas were without electricity.

I am always looking for new ideas to incorporate in my art works. Recently I decided to make a cheeseboard with studded gems. For this I choose a black walnut polished cheeseboard and used food grade resin . It has beautiful colors of gold, white and purple- studded with an amethyst cluster on one side.

I have attached a picture of the recent cheeseboard. This one is under hundred dollars but a great return on investment due to its uniqueness. No two cheeseboards are similar. I have taken some commission orders for clients as they wanted to choose their favorite color combinations and gems.

So what can you place on a cheeseboard? You can put different kinds of cheeses, grapes, dried fruits, deli meat, crackers and bread – anything you like. It always looks good.

My next mission is to develop charcuterie boards. These would look truly amazing. I was able to collaborate with a woodwork supplier who will be able to carve out artistic charcuterie boards.

Now for a fun trivia: do you know who made the largest cheese board in the world? Wisconsin made history by making a cheeseboard spanning 35 feet long and 7 feet wide. The custom board was officially adorned with 4437 pounds and 145 varieties of Wisconsin’s unique cheeses. A 2000 pound cheddar wheel was the grand centerpiece! Isn’t this an interesting fact?

Until next time.....
