A place to seek shelter, somewhere to lose yourself in your thoughts. Under the canopy of leaves and branches is a place that feels like home, with glimpses of bright blue sky overhead. This resin on canvas is an homage to this stately tree, a lasting part of the earth’s legacy, with no known beginning and no end in sight. It is set in a beautiful custom frame that effortlessly compliments the intense gold dust shimmers and beautifully vibrant botanical colors.
Why I created tis painting
This painting was inspired by Peepal tree [Buddha tree] that stood outside my classroom window during my elementary school years in Karachi, Pakistan. The tree was already hundreds of years old, dating back to the time of British rule, and it felt like a quiet guardian in the school grounds.
It's long hanging aerial roots fascinated me as a child- I imagined them as the tree's beard, giving it the presence of a wise old being. In the harsh desert summers of Karachi, its wide canopy offered precious shaded comfort to everyone beneath it.
